End of year reflection:
Joining and being a part in help desk was certainly very fun. I enjoyed learning and watching coding tutorials on Java. After learning some code, I started to build and setup codes for some Arduinos. These were very cool because you got to build them and set up their codes just the way you wanted to. After the Arduino came the Nintendo Labos. These are cool mini cardboard contraptions that you can play Nintendo games on. Building them was also pretty interesting. Overall this Help Desk semester was very entertaining and fun to be a part of. |

On Wednesday and Thursday we decided to work with the Mambo drones. They’re pretty small but they are well built for the most part. It seemed very interesting and enjoyable when you had to create your code for the drone to follow. I found that to be a cool feature. My only issue with it was that I was unable to get my Mambo drone to connect. It wouldn’t work with nothing, it kept saying “searching for drone” but never actually connected in the end. Even though I didn’t get to fly the drone, I found the concept of it interesting. I hope I’m the near feature I will get my drone connected and begin my coding for it to take flight.

For the past couple weeks help desk has been pretty busy. Due to working with the interns and going on field trips; Everyone has just been very busy. I am now the only student and freshman in period 6 help desk. But I don't mind. I personally don't mind it because I find it being more calm when you're just the only one.Working alone means you can move at your pace and get work done at your speed. I also really haven't had much a chance to do anything different because Mr. Wong has just been busy working with the seniors. With that said, the past couple of days I've been working on building Nintendo labos. (https://labo.nintendo.com/) I find building them to be pretty cool and interesting. At first they can look pretty challenging but once you get started you really get the hang of it. After that you start having fun building them. The best part of building them is getting to try them out once you're finished. So thats how my past couple weeks went in help desk.

For the past few weeks, my class and I have been working with a coding program called ´FlowLab´. This program allows users to code and even create their own game or any kind of mini scene they choose. I personally found this program to be a little too confusing for my liking, but that does not mean its a terrible program. For me, I have found ¨Code.org¨ to be much easier to learn on. I find the interface to be much more better to navigate if you´re a beginner. Overall, it was a lot of fun trying out this new program and trying to make a simple movement code. I hope we get to work with more coding programs like ¨FlowLab¨ in the near future.

Over the past few couple of weeks or so, my class and I have been working with a pretty interesting coding program called “AWS”. This program is very nice in my opinion, you can do and even practice several different coding mechanics to help better your coding journey. Though, the only drawback is that sadly the program is a bit clunky if used on a default safari browser I’ve noticed. Luckily, my teacher and other students found a simple solution to that. We simply started to use “AWS” on a chrome web browser instead, which worked much better. Overall it was a very fun experience working with “AWS” and trying out some chat bots, since I’ve never actually used these kinds of programs before.
